Hello, I’m Kurt Koegel and I am the owner of Koegel Plumbing and Heating Solutions LLC. I am a Master Plumber with over 30 years of experience in the industry. We have been providing plumbing and heating services to our customers in the Alexandria, MN area for five years now. Over the years our customers keep asking very similar plumbing questions and we have started to see a pattern developing. We thought instead of answering our customer’s individual questions that we would create a blog and share this information with everyone.
So here we are…this is the first post in our new blog series entitled “Plumbing Knowledge from a Pro“.
Our first bit of advice is if you wouldn’t eat it, don’t flush it down the drain. Simple advice really and if it prevents a drain from becoming clogged then we could actually call it money saving advice! Remember from your toilet’s perspective out of sight is not necessarily out of mind.
Don’t Flush these Items
Here is a list of common household items that should never…let me repeat never…be flushed down the drain.
- Baby Wipes
- Chemical Drain Cleaners
- Cotton Swabs
- Dental Floss
- Eye Glass Wipes
- Facial Tissue
- Hand Wipes
- Paper Towels
- Personal Hygiene Wipes
- Sanitary Napkins
If you have unknowingly been flushing these items down the drain we suggest you simply place them in the trash instead. If you have already found yourself in a bind and could use the service of a professional plumber, we are here to help get things flowing again.
We hope you found this information useful. Do you have a plumbing or heating question we can help with? Please send them to us. We always look forward to hearing from you.
